José Augusto Guilhon Albuquerque holds a doctorate in Sociology of Development (Université Catholique de Louvain), a Habilitation in Political Science and is Professor of Political Science and International Relations (University of São Paulo, Brazil - retired). He is currently a Senior Research Fellow with the USP?s Research Center for International Relations, the Wong Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations and Director, Brazilian Center for the Study of Transnational Enterprises. He held visiting professorships at Georgetown University, at the Chaire Jacques Leclerq (Université Catholique de Louvain), at the Cátedra Brasil (Universidad Central de Venezuela), and the Rio Branco Chair (Chatham House). His researches focus on the Analysis of Brazilian Domestic Politics - especially political behavior - and Foreign Policy, Brazil/U.S. and Brazil/China Bilateral Relations. He founded and chaired the Department of Political Science and the Research Center for International Relations, both at the University of São Paulo, where he also served as Chief of Staff of the Rector and President of the Committee for International Cooperation. He also served, from 1983 through 2018, as Chief of Staff and Secretary for Social Development of the City of Osasco, Chief of Staff of the State of São Paulo Department of Economy and Planning, and Special Advisor to The Minister of Budget and Planning, to the Speaker of the State of São Paulo Assembly, to the Governor of the State of São Paulo, and to the President of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Agency. He published and edited numerous books and several dozens of scholarly articles in English, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese, has collaborated in all major national Newspapers and Magazines and is regularly invited to radio and TV shows, both in Brazil and in Chile, Argentina, the UK, France and Germany.
