Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Museu de Zoologia (MZ)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

I have a Bachelor's and Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (1978) and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the same university (1988). I worked in the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Literature at USP, Ribeirão Preto campus, from 1982 to December 1998. During this period I was a professor of Vertebrate Zoology and Zoogeography. In January 1999 I transferred to the USP Zoology Museum, where I worked until 2017 as Curator of the Mastozoological Collection, and also as Head of the Vertebrate Service and Deputy Director of the Boracéia Biological Station. In 2018, for one year, I developed a research project as a Senior Professor at the Institute of Advanced Studies at USP. From May 2019 to May 2021 I was co-producer, scriptwriter and presenter of a weekly program on Rádio USP. During my career I have guided dozens of students in their Bachelor's degree work, Master's dissertations, and Doctoral theses. I am interested in the systematics and evolution of mammals and the relationship between this evolutionary history and the history of terrestrial biomes and climate. I am currently proposing my engagement with the Department of Biology at FFCLRP-USP as a Senior Professor with the aim of teaching Bachelor's courses and publishing the results of my most recent studies.
