Andréa C. Fogaça holds a degree in Biological Sciences (Bachelor and Teaching Licensure) from the Institute of Biosciences of the University of São Paulo (19941998). She earned her PhD in Sciences (program: Biology of the HostPathogen Relationship) from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo (19982003). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Biochemistry at the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo (20032006) and research internships in France [BioPark-CNRS, Archamps (2016) and UMR-BIPAR/ANSES-INRAE-EnvA (20232024)]. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Parasitology of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo since December 2021. Her main research focus, initiated in 2009, is to identify and characterize the molecular factors involved in the interactions among rickettsiae, their tick vectors, and the resident microbiota. In this field, she has advised and continues to advise undergraduate and graduate students (Masters and PhD levels) and supervises postdoctoral researchers. She serves as a reviewer for national and international journals and research funding agencies. She is a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level C). Currently, she is the cordinator of the Graduate Program in Biology of the HostPathogen Relationship (CAPES rating 7) and serves as the representative of the Department of Parasitology on the Inclusion and Belonging Committee (CIP) of the ICB-USP.
