ResearcherID: T-5594-2018.He earned his bachelors and teaching degrees in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL) in 2003. He completed his masters and PhD in Agricultural Microbiology at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP) in 2005 and 2009, respectively. His postdoctoral research was conducted at the Institute of Technology and Research in Aracaju/SE (2010-2011), in the business sector at Algae Biotecnologia (2012), and later at the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (CENA/USP) in 2013.He currently serves as an Assistant Professor (NDIII) at the Catholic University of Brasília (UCB). Since 2023, he has been a permanent faculty member of the Postgraduate Program in Genomic Sciences and Biotechnology at UCB (CAPES rating 7). Additionally, since 2014, he has collaborated with the Postgraduate Program in Process Engineering at the Tiradentes University (UNIT), which holds a CAPES rating of 6.He is involved in several CNPq research groups, including "Water Resources, Ecotoxicology, and Environmental Technologies," "BIOMAFARTEC Bioprospecting of Molecules with Pharmacological and Technological Activities," "Energy, Materials, and Catalytic Processes," and "Advanced Oxidative Processes." He also briefly served as a visiting researcher in the Department of Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, collaborating with Professor Samir Kumar Khanal.Dr. Ferreira is actively engaged in editorial roles, serving as an Editorial Board member of the World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Review Editor for Frontiers in Microbiology and Frontiers in Chemical Engineering, Associate Editor of Frontiers in Materials, and Guest Editor for Frontiers in Microbiology and the Journal of Basic Microbiology. He is also an Associate Editor for Current Microbiology and Editor of the Archives of Microbiology. Furthermore, he reviews funding proposals for major research foundations in Brazil, such as FAPESP, CNPq, and FAPITEC, as well as for international organizations like the International Foundation for Science (Sweden) and the National Science Centre (Poland).He has published 144 articles in peer-reviewed journals, authored 5 books with international publishers (ELSEVIER, CRC PRESS, SPRINGER, WILEY), contributed 40 chapters to both national and international publications, and holds 7 patent filings. His h-index is 37, with over 4,729 citations (Scopus).Throughout his career, he has supervised 16 masters theses, 5 PhD dissertations, 20 undergraduate research projects, 2 undergraduate theses, and 1 specialization monograph. Currently, he advises 5 PhD students and 1 masters student. He has acted as a reviewer for 110 international journals and 5 national ones.Between 2010 and 2024, Dr. Ferreira participated in 17 research projects, coordinating 4 of them. At present, he is involved in 4 research projects, leading 2 of them as the principal investigator. His research focuses on Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering, with an emphasis on Bioengineering, Environmental Biotechnology/Engineering, Bioremediation, Biocatalysis, Enzymes, Immobilization, Green Chemistry, Biomaterials, Drug Delivery, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and Bioreactors.He has collaborated with 150 co-authors in scientific publications and is currently engaged in research projects with international institutions, including the Huaiyin Institute of Technology (China), Gdansk University of Technology (Poland), School of Engineering and Sciences, Campus Monterrey (Mexico), Dongguk University (South Korea), University of Hawaii at Manoa (USA), Medizinische Universität Innsbruck (Austria), and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University and Jaypee University of Information Technology (India), among others.
