Fernando Haddad

Graduated in Law from the University of São Paulo (1985), MA in Economics from the University of São Paulo (1990) and PhD in Philosophy from the University of São Paulo (1996). Professor, Department of Political Science, Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences, University of São Paulo. He was Adjunt Secretary of Finance of São Paulo (2001-2003), Special Advisor to the Minister of Planning, Budget and Management (2003 -2004), Executive Secretary, Ministry of Education (2004 -2005) and Minister of Education (2005-2012 ).He was the Mayor of São Paulo (2013-2016). In January 2023 he has become the Finance Minister. In 2023, he was elected by Latin Finance as The Finance Minister of the Year. In 2024, he was elected by TIME as one of the 100 most influential world leaders on climate issues, in recognition of the Ecological Transition Economic Plan developed in partnership between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, managed by Minister Marina Silva.
