Carla Van Der Haagen Custodio Bonetti

Carla Bonetti holds a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP, 1991), where she also obtained her Masters and PhD degrees in Oceanography. Her doctoral training was carried out under a cotutelle agreement with the Université dAngers (France), completed in 2000. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), affiliated with the Oceanography Coordination, and serves as a advisor in the Graduate Program in Oceanography.Throughout her academic career, she has supervised and co-supervised 17 Masters dissertations, 4 doctoral theses, and 3 postdoctoral fellows. Since 2016, she has continuously held academic leadership and management positions, including coordination and vice-coordination of the Undergraduate Program in Oceanography, as well as serving as Chair of the Undergraduate Academic Committee .Her scientific activities are focused on Oceanography and Quaternary Paleoceanography, with emphasis on benthic foraminifera and on the application of statistical and quantitative approaches to environmental diagnostic modeling, environmental proxy selection, and paleoecological reconstruction. By the end of 2025, she had authored 49 scientific articles published in indexed peer-reviewed journals.She has developed a solid record of international collaboration, including a postdoctoral fellowship at IFREMERBrest (France, 20072008), appointment as Visiting Researcher at the University of Wollongong (Australia, 20142015), and activity as Senior Researcher at ISMAR/CNR, Bologna (Italy, 20192020). These experiences have contributed to the consolidation of international research networks, the promotion of academic cooperation, and the strengthening of graduate-level human resource training.
