Ruth Guinsburg has a medical degree from the Federal University of São Paulo (1982), a Masters degree in Pediatrics from the same institution (1988), followed by a PhD in the same field (1993), and achieved her Livre-Docência in Pediatrics in 2003, also at the Federal University of São Paulo. She has served as an advisor in the Post-Graduate Program in Pediatrics at the Federal University of São Paulo since 2004.She was awarded the title of Specialist in Pediatrics in 1985 and obtained her Certification in Neonatology in 1995 from the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics. Since 2007, she has held the position of Full Professor of Neonatal Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the Federal University of São Paulo. She currently serves as the Coordinator of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hospital São Paulo. She headed the Neonatal Pediatrics Division during the terms 20132015 and 20152018, and began a new term in 2023. She also coordinates the Faculty Recruitment Examination Committee at the Escola Paulista de Medicina Federal University of São Paulo.She is the Co-Chair of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program of the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Maria Fernanda Branco de Almeida. Since 2016, she has been the Scientific Coordinator, together with Prof. Dr. Maria Fernanda Branco de Almeida, of the Brazilian Neonatal Research Network. She has been a member of the Neonatal Task Force of the International Liaison Committee on Neonatal Resuscitation (ILCOR) since 2005, currently holding emeritus status. As of June 2025, she serves as a reviewer for the Health Sciences I Division at FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation). She served as Editor-in-Chief of the Revista Paulista de Pediatria, the official scientific journal of the São Paulo Society of Pediatrics, from 2004 until June 2025. She has also acted as a peer reviewer for various national and international scientific journals.Her primary area of expertise is Neonatology, with main research interests including neonatal pain, neonatal diseasesparticularly neonatal resuscitation in the delivery roomand neonatal mortality.
