Has a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1982), and also in Philosophy from the same university (1984), a Master's degree in Experimental Physics from the State University of Campinas (1985) and a Doctorate in History and Philosophy of Science at Indiana University (1990). Worked at the State University of Feira de Santana (2001) and the Federal University of Bahia (2002), and is presently a full professor in the Dept. of Philosophy, FFLCH, University of São Paulo.
