She obtained her B.S, in Biological Sciences at the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (1977), M. Sc. Degree in Biological Sciences (Physiology) at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1983) e Sc.D degree (General Physiology) at the Universidade de São Paulo (1988). She was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Riverside (1990-1992), at the Department of Physiology, Loyola University Chicago (1992-1994, 1996, 2001, 2002), and at the Universidad Autônoma de La Plata, ARG (2010).She is currently a research investigatots with the Center for Biomedical Engineering at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas. She has developed research in Cardiovascular Physiology, Cell Biophysics, Autonomic Pharmacology and Bioengineering. Her main research line is myovcardial excitation-contraction coupling and calcium homeostasis, mostly with a focus on developmental ans species-dependent differences and under pathophysiological conditions fisiopatológica, as well as on the role of Ca2+ signaling in the genesis of arrhythmias and in the cardiac functional regulation by catecholamines. She is associate editor of the journals Research on Biomedical Enginering and Frontiers in Physiology, and is with the editorial board of Circulation Research. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
