Helouise Lima Costa

She is a Full Professor III and curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of São Paulo, where she has been working since 1993. She holds a degree in Architecture from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1983), a master's degree in Arts from the School of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo (1994), a PhD in Architecture from the same University (1999), and a postdoctoral degree from the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of São Paulo in the area of "History, Theory, and Criticism of Art in Museums" (2009). She is accredited as a professor and advisor to the Interunit Postgraduate Program in Aesthetics and Art History (PGEHA) and the Interunit Postgraduate Program in Museology (PPGMus), both at the University of São Paulo. She was vice-director of MAC USP from June 2006 to July 2010; a CNPq Productivity Fellow - level 2, between 2016 and 2019, and she was part of the FAPESP Thematic Project "Collecting, identifying, processing, disseminating: the curatorial cycle and the production of knowledge" between 2017 and 2023. She had a FAPESP research scholarship abroad (BPE) with the following project: The reinvention of a collection of modern art: the exhibitions of the MAC USP collection during Walter Zanini's management - a comparative study between Brazil and France (January to June 2024). She works in the Arts field with emphasis on the following topics: modern photography, photojournalism, museum studies, history of exhibitions, and art and politics in the first half of the 20th century.
