Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas (FCF) (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal) Birthplace: Brazil
Graduated in Pharmacy-Biochemistry - Toxicology, University of São Paulo (1972), master's degree in Toxicology and Toxicological Analysis from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of USP (1976); PhD in Toxicology, University of São Paulo (1978-1982), sandwich/CAPES scholarship in 1980 at School of Experimental Pharmacology at Bradford University, Bradford, England. She carried out four post-doctoral internships abroad between 1986 and 1992 in Essen, Kiel, Dresden in clinical protocols at Medical Schools of German University, and in Leiden University, Netherlands (1994). She worked in the coordination of the Pharmacology-Therapeutics Laboratory at the Instituto do Coração HCFMUSP (1977-2004) in the medicine precision (patient care), and as leader of academic projects related to cardiac surgery and at the Medical School of University of Sao Paulo. In addition, since 1988 she worked at the University of São Paulo as a lecturer and professor full teaching pharmacotherapy, basic and clinical pharmacokinetics (1988-2022). The research investigation undergoing her supervision was related to clinical protocol in cardiac surgery since 1988. More recently in 2006, clinical protocols included were developed going on ICU septic major burns. A total of 39 doctor students and 19 postdoctoral students supervised by her at the University of Sao Paulo between 1988-2023. She is currently a senior academic and a collaborating researcher since 2006 in projects carried out in major septic burns at the Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit, Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. Since 2016, she has also worked as a collaborating researcher in the Biochemistry-Toxicology Laboratory in the HCFMUSP Central Laboratory Division. From 1990 onwards, she became the leader of the Clinical Pharmacokinetics research group at CNPq leader, coordinating projects in cardiac surgery with extracorporeal circulation vs off-pump. But from 2006 onwards, she also began to coordinate projects in the laboratory area of precision medicine in the application of Combating Microbial Resistance in patients suffering from septic shock caused by hospital pathogens. She has experience in the laboratory area of biomedical application with an emphasis on the following topics development and validation of bioanalytical methods by chromatography, precision medicine, clinical pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, PK/PD modeling of drugs, drug metabolism and genetic polymorphism by applying CYPs markers, PK/PD approach and antibiotic coverage based on serum levels plus isolated pathogens of cultures, biomarkers of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) in severe septic patients, investigation of the expression of renal secretion of biotransporters during SIRS. Member of four International Societes : IATDMCT-EBA-ASM- ACCP. She is a full member of the Brazilian Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (2024) occupies chair 73, Academic Mario Taveira (Patron), Academic Leon Rabinovitch (Predecessor). Effective full member of international societies: Burns, Microbiology, Clinical Pharmacy. Currently, she also serves as a member of doctoral committees, an ad hoc advisor to research funding foundations, and a reviewer for international journals.
