Juliana Maria Ferraz Sallum

Holds a Medical Degree from the Federal University of São Paulo (1990), a Specialist Title in Ophthalmology and Clinical Genetics, a Masters degree in Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the Federal University of São Paulo (1995), and a sandwich Ph.D. in Medicine (Ophthalmology) from the Federal University of São Paulo and Johns Hopkins University (1997). Completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Ocular Genetics at UNIFESP (2022).Currently serves as an Affiliate Professor and Professor Livre Docente at the Federal University of São Paulo - Escola Paulista de Medicina. She is part of the faculty for the Graduate Program in Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at UNIFESP-EPM. She has supervised several masters and doctoral students in postgraduate programs.Additionally, she is the President of the Retina Brasil Scientific Committee, Head of Ophthalmic Genetics at Dasa Genômica, principal investigator for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, Tutor at the Universitat de Barcelona, and Voluntary Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Miami - Bascom Palmer Ophthalmology Institute.She has renowned experience in Medicine, with an emphasis on Ophthalmology, working primarily in the following areas: genetics, ophthalmology, retina, and retinopathies.She has extensive experience in Medicine, with an emphasis on Ophthalmology and Genetics, focusing on Ophthalmology, Ocular Genetics, Retina, and Retinal Dystrophies. She serves as the principal investigator in multicenter clinical research on degenerative retinal diseases and has participated in several advisory boards and councils.She practices as an ophthalmologist and geneticist at the Instituto de Genética Ocular.
