Medical degree from Faculdade de Medicina of the University of São Paulo - USP (1987), master's in Obstetrics from Faculdade de Medicina da USP (1995) and Ph.D. in Obstetrics from Faculdade de Medicina da USP (1998). Intenational Diploma in Fetal Medicine by the Fetal Medicine Foundation in London (1999)(www.fetalmedicine.com/fmf/training-certification/fmf-diploma). Special interest in fetoscopy (fetal endoscopic surgery) for the treatment of spina bifida (meningomyelocele), complicated twin pregnancies (twin to twin transfusion syndrome, selective IUGR), congenital infection and ultrasound in obstetrics. Developed an inovative technique for fetal repair of myelomeningocele using a biocellulose based repair named SAFER. Performed the first fetoscopy for the treatment of spina bifida in 2013, so Brazil was the second country in the world where this procedure was ever performed.In vitro and in vivo hands-on training at the following centers that initiated the technique of correction of myelomeningocele by fetoscopy: Israel, Chile, United States (New York and Los Angeles), Italy (Milan) e Uruguay.
