I have a Nursing major from Universidade do Sagrado Coração (USC) (1985), a Master?s Degree in Nursing (1994) and a Doctoral Degree in Nursing (2001), both from the University of São Paulo (USP). Postdoctoral Research Fellow in The University of British Columbia - School of Nursing (2010-2011). I am currently an Associate Professor at a Brazilian public university, São Paulo State University (UNESP). I have taught nursing students and worked as an advisor in two graduate programs: Master's Program in Nursing and Program in Health Collective, where I am responsible for the course Qualitative Approaches in Research. My main research line is experiences of adults, older persons, families and health professionals in relation to the health-disease process. I lead a research group, Methodological Approaches to Qualitative Research in Health Care, registered at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in Brazil. I have research projects supported by the Foundation for Research Support of São Paulo State (FAPESP) and CNPq. I am presently a reviewer of manuscripts from national and international journals, such as BMC Nursing, Journal of Nursing School of USP, Online Journal of Nursing (OBNJ), Interface, Pan American Journal of Public Health, International Journal of Qualitative Methods and others.
