Graduated in Dentistry in the University of São Paulo (1980), Master's degree in Oral Pathology in the School of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo (1983) and PhD in Oral Pathology in the School of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo (1988). Post-Doctorate in Cell Biology at NIDCD-NIH, United States, from 1991 to 1994. Currently is Full Professor at the Department of Cell Biology of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo. He was Head of this Department from 2016 to 2020. Experience in the area of #8203;#8203;morphology and microscopy, with an emphasis on Cellular and Tumor Biology. Research interests include the following topics: neoplasms of different organs, extracellular matrix, laminin, integrins and MMPs. President of the Microscopy Center at ICB-USP. Since September 2017, he has been an Ambassador of the American Society of Cell Biology (ASCB Ambassador) in Brazil. Three-year Post-Doctorate Abroad with international scholarship from the Fogarty Foundation, National Institutes of Health, USA, as Visiting Fellow in the Laboratory of Dr. Bechara Kachar (Section on Structural Cell Biology, NIDCD, NIH, USA) (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
