Associate Professor at Department of Genetics, ESALQ, University of São Paulo. She conducts research activities in Human Ecology with emphasis in human adaptability and related aspects of land use changes and: territoriality, food and nutritional status, environmental perception and local knowledge associated to interactions between human being and environment. In the area of Genetics and Environmental Biotechnology, she conducted researches with filamentous fungi (selection, characterizations, and genetics improvement of strains) with the aim of lignocellulosic biomass processing (banana fiber and coconut fiber) by pectinolytic, xylanolytic, and ligninolytic enzymes. Currently offers the courses: Human Evolutionary Ecology (graduate and undergraduate levels), and Genetics and Socioenvironmental Issues (undergraduate level). She has a Licenciate and a Bachelor degrees in Home Economics (University of São Paulo, 1988); Master in Agronomy degree (Genetics and Plant Breeding) (University of São Paulo, 1993), and a Doctor in Biological Sciences degree (Genetics and Molecular Biology) (UNICAMP - University of Campinas, 1997) (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
