Graduated in Agricultural Engineering from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho - UNESP (1987), Master in Sciences (Nuclear Energy in Agriculture) from the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (1992) and PhD in Sciences from the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (1996). He has experience in plant biotechnology, with emphasis on seedling production, working mainly on the following topics: plant tissue culture, acclimatization, somaclonal variation studies, in vitro conservation, protected cultivation and tropical floriculture. He worked as technical coordinator of the plant tissue culture laboratory at the Amazon Biotechnology Center (CBA). Since 2009, he has been Professor responsible for the discipline of Floriculture and Ornamental Plants (RDIDP) at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo and Tissue Culture at the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture. Associate Professor (MS5-1) developed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Florida - Gainesville (2017/2018), studying monoterpenes with an emphasis on D-limonene. In 2021, he coordinated the LTCOP-Piracicaba-Brazil (Growth System) team in the Deep Space Food Challenge-DSFC (NASA-CSA) and is currently a member of the Space Farming Brazil Research Group, working on in vitro conservation of plant germplasm under microgravity.
