I am a researcher at Embrapa assigned to the Secretariat of Commerce and International Relations of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA). Previously, I served as Head, Manager and Coordinator of Embrapa's international relations area, between 2014 and 2023. I was also an advisor to Embrapa's PD Executive Board for international affairs. In 2021-2022, I was appointed as Coordinator of the Working Group that prepared the proposal for Embrapa's International Strategic Plan. I also worked as a researcher in Embrapa's research and development division in intelligence studies for innovative projects and programs focusing on the challenges of Brazilian agriculture. I was a researcher at Embrapa's Labex programme in the UK, the institution's strategic international cooperation initiative (2010-2014). As manager of the international area, my main role was to provide support to Embrapa's Executive Board, and other managers of the institution, on international issues, as well as to encourage collaboration initiatives between Embrapa and its partners abroad, including countries in Africa, Latin America , North America, Europe and Asia. In the Labex program (the international program that Embrapa has for international collaborative research on cutting-edge scientific topics), I was the organization's first professional in the United Kingdom in this role, having been assigned two main tasks: developing projects of common interest between Brazil and the United Kingdom United and articulate collaborative studies with international organisations. My PhD was completed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) and UFLA (Brazil), in 1999. I was technical coordinator at Embrapa for PROCITROPICOS (Programa Cooperativo de Investigación y Transferencia de Tecnologia para los Trópicos Suramericano), an IICA initiative for Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia and Ecuador. In 2000, I completed a post-doctorate at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign-USA and a second post-doctorate at the Instituto Agronomic de Campinas (IAC, Brazil). Since 2002, I have been part of the research team of Embrapa, I was a CNPq scholarship holder (research productivity scholarship) and a lecturer and advisor for the graduate course in science at UNESP (Universidade Estadual Paulista). Languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
