Lucas Blanes

Lucas has a Bachelor's degree in Biology (2001), a Master's in Biochemistry (2004), and a PhD in Analytical Chemistry (2008) from the University of São Paulo (USP), including an exchange period in the United States. After completing his PhD, he undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where he served as a lecturer and researcher for a decade.In 2018, he returned to Brazil to contribute to advancements in national science and technology, taking on the role of Specialist in Science and Technology, Production, and Innovation in Public Health at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), at the Carlos Chagas Institute (ICC). There, he is the deputy head of the Laboratory of Applied Sciences and Technologies in Health (LaCTAS) Lucas was a CNPq researcher level 2 from 2020 to 2022.His research focuses on developing innovative technologies such as Lab-on-a-Chip devices, Organs-On-a-Chip systems, biosensors, rapid tests, molecular detection reactions, 3D printing, and Artificial Intelligence. Lucas has published 51 scientific articles, six book chapters, and two patents, and has been featured on the covers of two prominent journals. He is also a speaker at international conferences and a lecturer in the Graduate Program in Biosciences and Biotechnology at ICC, where he has supervised dozens of students. From 2021 to 2024, he established and coordinated the Equipment Development department at the Institute of Molecular Biology of Paraná (IBMP), which now has three laboratories and, at that time, two devices were registered at ANVISA.In the last 10 years, Lucas has secured approximately 6 million reais through grants for research and technological development projects (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
