Delson Torikai

Completed a Technical Course in Mechanics at Escola Técnica Industrial Lauro Gomes (1981) and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UNICAMP (1987), with a master's (1990) and doctorate (1994) also from UNICAMP. Served as a visiting researcher at the Science and Technology Agency in Japan at the NIRIN - National Industrial Research Institute of Nagoya (1996), conducted postdoctoral research at UNICAMP (1996-2002) and the Institute for Technological Research in São Paulo - IPT (2003). He has been an Associate Professor at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo since 2004. He has experience in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, focusing on advanced ceramics, including: processing and characterization of ceramic materials, especially high-purity silica glasses, silica preforms for optical fibers, and silicas via the Verneuil technique; instrumentation for nanotechnology and microelectromechanical systems; spark plasma sintering (SPS); development of sensors for adulterated fuels and hydroelectric dams safety. Recently, he has focused on high-energy X-ray nondestructive testing analyses on structural components of electrical transmission systems.
