Luena Nascimento Nunes Pereira is an Associate Professor at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of São Paulo, author of the book The Bakongo of Angola: Ethnicity, Religion and Kinship in a neighborhood of Luanda in addition to other articles. She did a Post-Doctoral degree at CEBRAP/Centro Brasileiro de Análise e Plano, at Kings College/London and at UNICAMP. She works at the Department of Social Sciences and at the Graduate Program in Social Sciences at UFRRJ, in the field of Anthropology, with research on the following topics: Angola, contemporary Africa, ethnic identity, nationalism, religious identity, racial relations, social markers of difference , teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian History and Culture.
