Pessoa Física  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Mechanical Industrial Engineering from the Federal Center for Technological Education Celso Suckow da Fonseca - CEFET/RJ - (1988), a master's degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy - DCMM (now the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering - DEQM) at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro - PUC-Rio (1993), and a doctorate in Metallurgical Engineering from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo - PMT/EPUSP (1999). His first postdoctoral research was conducted between 1999 and 2002 at PMT/USP, where he complemented the investigation of the oxidation of the 12 alloys that had already been studied during his doctorate, having completed sulfuration tests and initiated tests in mixed atmospheres (sulfuration-oxidation). Has experience in the field of Metallurgical Engineering, with an emphasis on High-Temperature Oxidation, mainly working on the following topics: refractory metals, processing of metal alloys, Phase Transformation, intermetallics, Surface Engineering, Thermal Analysis, X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, and Corrosion. After his postdoctoral research, he joined ABINOX - Brazilian Association of Stainless Steel as a consultant, an activity that led him to specialize in stainless steels and corrosion-resistant alloys. At the same time, he started his consulting company in applications related to Metallurgy and Materials, having served various companies, particularly those in the food and beverage, chemical and petrochemical, oil and natural gas, pharmaceutical and cosmetics, pulp and paper, and metallurgy sectors. In his activity as a consultant, he supplemented his professional experience in the fields of Material Specification, Physical Metallurgy, Welding, Corrosion, Failure Analysis, Industrial Maintenance, and Integrity Assessment. For more than two decades, he dedicated himself to teaching at private universities in the fields of Engineering, Administration, and Logistics, primarily. His university teaching activity was interrupted in April 2014 when he was hired as Chief Engineer of Materials and Corrosion by SAIPEM, a subsidiary in the United Arab Emirates. This opportunity ended just under two years after it began due to the sharp decline in international oil prices. Upon returning to Brazil, he faced difficulties re-employing in the field due to the fallout from the Lava Jato investigation and was forced to improvise. He worked in a mixed role of technical and commercial (business development) for MULTIALLOY and accepted a new challenge in the construction sector with a focus on quality in Rio de Janeiro. He managed to return to his field of work as a consultant, and since April 2021, his main client has been TUV NORD GROUP. Recently, he succeeded in returning to research by starting his second postdoctoral position at the Department of Petroleum Engineering at EPUSP, which was interrupted due to the suspension of the respective scholarship. Since October 2024, he has joined FATEC, resuming his teaching activities. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
