Chemical Engineer and Professor/Researcher at the Federal University of Sergipe, working in the Department of Chemical Engineering DEQ/UFS, Denise S. Ruzene is also a permanent professor of two Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Programs in Biotechnology (Northeast Biotechnology Network RENORBIO/UFS and PROBIO/UFS). Graduated in 1998 from FAENQUIL, currently Lorena School of Engineering at the University of São Paulo - EEL/USP (1994-1998), Master and PhD in Industrial Biotechnology - EEL/USP (1999-2001 and 2002-2005), with a doctorate/sandwich (2005, FAPESP funding) and Post-Doctorate (2006-2009, FCT/Portugal funding) in Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Center for Biological Engineering at the University of Minho in Portugal - CEB/UMINHO. Leader of the Research Group/CNPq entitled "Integration of Biotechnological Processes" and Coordinator of the Biomass, Bioproduct and Bioenergy Laboratory - L3Bio/UFS, linked to the Regional Competence Center for Oil, Gas and Biofuels of Sergipe/UFS, Denise S. Ruzene has been consolidating in research and innovation focused on interactions between the areas of chemistry, microbiology and engineering, to promote better use of agricultural/agro-industrial waste, innovation in alternative processes to obtain bioproducts and bioenergy, as well as the application and development of new bioprocess concepts, with support for research from different funding bodies (CAPES, CNPq, FAPESP, FAPITEC/SE, FINEP, among others). Its technological and innovation production can be represented by several interactions with regional and national companies, 1 licensed patent, 5 Granted Patents, 20 Patent Deposits [without and with formal co-participation from private companies] and 3 Software registrations. In relation to entrepreneurship/technology transfer activities, the researcher has technological extension projects, actions related to partnership contract initiatives, as well as being a member of the Coordinating Committee of the Institutional Program for Initiation Scholarships in Technological Development and Innovation (COMPIBITI) from UFS, biennia 2015-2016, 2017-2018, 2021-2023 and 2023-2025. In relation to dissemination and human resources activities, the researcher participated in the organization of 11 events, participates/participated in the training of 31 technological initiation students, 56 scientific initiation students, 15 masters/master's students, 12 doctors/doctoral students, 1 post-doctor ; published 28 book chapters and 52 scientific articles distributed in 25 different specialized journals, which resulted in 637 citations generating an H-index Factor 17 [Source: Scopus], with 82 of the total having a Qualis/Capes profile, this represented by 78 in concept A in the area of Engineering II. Among the awards, highlights include his participation in the 1st place team in the CNPq National Award for the best Technological Initiation project in the area of Exact Sciences, Earth and Engineering in 2017, delivered in 2018 in the presence of the president of CNPq and government representatives at the 70 SBPC, as well as 1 places in the years 2015 to 2018, as the best PIBITI Technological Initiation projects in the area of Engineering at the Federal University of Sergipe and delivered in the editions of the respective Initiation Meeting in Technological Development and Innovation EIDTI/UFS events, in addition of other awards.
