Luiz Otávio Saraiva Ferreira

Graduate on Electrical Engineering - Electronics emphasis at Universidade de Brasília - UnB (1978), Brasília - DF - BRAZIL, master's at Electric Engineering (Automation) from Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP (1982) and Ph.D. at Electric Engineering (Microelectronics) from Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP (1994). Post-doctorate at Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices, Baton Rouge, LA, USA (1997). Worked as design engineer for the electronics industry (1982-1986). Was engineer at the Center of Semiconductor Devices (Centro de Componentes Semicondutores-CCS) of the Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP (1986-1996). In 1996 was envited to work at the Brazilian Synchrotron Facility (LNLS) to startup a Microfabrication Laboratory, that headed up to 2002, when was appointed as faculty of the Control and Automation Course of the Mechanical Engineering College of the University of Campinas - UNICAMP, Has experience in Electronic Engineering, acting on the following subjects: electronic instruments design, product engineering, test engineering. Also has experience on following engineering subjects: microfabrication, mems design, optomechatronics, resonant scanners design. Has experience as entrepreneur and as govenment agent. His actual research subjects are numerical modelling of Lab-On-a-Chip and microreactores using particle methods in view of simulation using graphics processors (GPU) based supercomputers, and modeling and design of permanente magnet based magnetic levitation systems.
