Bachelors degree in Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (1975), MSc degree in Nuclear Technology from the Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares (1978) and PhD degree in Radiochemistry from the Queen Mary College, University of London (1982). Sabbatical leave at Hauptabteilung Sicherheit Kernforschungszentrum, Karlsruhe, Germany (1989); Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz, München, Germany (1995) and Department of Oceanography, Florida State University, USA (1997). Professor and researcher at the Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares, Brazil, since 1976. Scientific consultant for several science/research agencies and foundations, scientific journals and public/private companies. Author of 57 peer-reviewed papers, with 1161 citations and H factor 19 (Web of Science). Experience in the field of Environmental Radioprotection, acting mainly in the following subjects: determination of artificial and natural radionuclides in environmental samples, NORM and TENORM, and environmental risk assessment. Responsible for several multidisciplinary research projects. Activities related to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA): expert consultant, representative of Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares in the network ALMERA (Analytical Laboratories for the Measurement of Environmental Radioactivity), member of Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Applications (SAGNA) from 2015 to 2018, member of the network ENVIRONET.
