Degree in Naval Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1995), MSc (1997) and Ph.D. (2001) in Naval Arch. and Ocean Engineering from the University of São Paulo. Currently works as Associate Professor of the Department of Naval and Ocean Engineering at the Escola Politécnica of the University of São Paulo, where he was Head of the Department from 2014 to 2018. He regularly teaches courses in undergraduate and graduate levels and works as supervisor of master and doctorate students. He was also coordinator of the Graduate Program in Naval and Ocean Engineering at USP in the period from 2010 to 2012. His main research area concerns the hydrodynamics of offshore systems. Works mainly with Theoretical and Experimental Hydrodynamics, Offshore Mechanics, Design of Ships and Ocean Systems and Fluid-Structure Interaction. Has more than 30 articles published in international journals and over 60 papers in conference proceedings. Has coordinated several R&D projects funded by industry, including works done for companies such as Petrobras, Equinor, Repsol Brazil and Chevron Shipping, besides providing consultancy services for the Brazilian Navy. Was a visiting researcher at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1999 and Visiting Professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Navales at the Technical University of Madrid, Spain, from 2012 to 2013.
