BS from the University of Rhode Island (1992) in Aquiculture and Fisheries, MS in Animal Science from the University of California Davis (1994) and Ph.D. in Genetics from the University da California Davis (1999). Completed postdoctoral training at the University of Nebraska Lincoln and University of São Paulo. Holds a position as research scientist at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation since 2001, and is graduate advisor at the Animal Science Graduate Program at the University of Brasilia. Coordinates the National Network of Animal Genomics Research in Embrapa since 2008, is a CNPq group leader on the topic and member of CTNBIO in the area of animal health. Serves as Associate Editor of Genetics and Molecular Biology and is ad hoc reviewer of the Journal of Animal Science, BMC Genomics, Frontiers in Livestock Genomics, Gene, Livestock Science, Molecular Biology Reports, Genetics and Molecular Biology, Genetics and Molecular Research, Brazilian Journal of Microbiology, Brazilian Agricultural Research, Scientia Agricola and Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique. Has experience in the area of genetics, with emphasis on Animal Genetics, acting on the following topics: development and use of genomic tools in animal breeding, mapping and genomic sequencing of genomes.
