Dr. Luis Joaquim was graduated in Biological Sciences at the Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, Universidade de São Paulo (FMRP-USP, SP-Brazil) in 1997 and got his Masters degree in Physiology in 2000 under the supervision of Dr. Helio Salgado (Cardiovascular Physiology). In 2002/2003, he worked at Dr. Mariana Morris lab of Pharmachology and Toxicology at Wright State University (Dayton, OH), where he studied the variability of cardiovascular parameters in animals submitted to stress with or without previous treatment with piridostigmine, as well as in knockout animals for AT1a angiotensin receptors. In the recent years, he colaborates in the laboratory of Cardiovascular Physiology of the Prof PhD Helio C. Salgado with research evaluating the behaviour of heart rate variability n post-COVID-19 patients.In 2005, he graduated as a Medical Doctor at the FMRP-USP, and then engaged in the military service at the Brazilian Navy in Manaus (AM-Brazil) to work in the voluntary medical assistance to the poor people of the Amazonas.Since 2012, he has been working as Assistant Professor in the Medical School of the Centro Universitário Barão de Mauá, where he had developed activities in the fields of assistance and teaching with medical students at the enfermary of Internal Medicine at the Hospital Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Ribeirão Preto for 10 years and has been a member of the Núcleo Docente Estruturante (NDE) since the first semester of 2018; nowadays, Dr. Luis Joaquim is also giving classes in two disciplines (Semiology of the Adult Patient II, and Pathology of Systems).Furthermore, he has been working at the Hospital Estadual de Ribeirão Preto as a generalist since 2009 as well. Recently, in april 2021, he completed a latu sensu postgraduate in Palliative Medicine at the Centro Universitário São Camilo with the renowned professors from the Instituto Paliar in São Paulo-SP.
