FRANCISCO JAVIER HERNANDEZ BLAZQUEZ is a veterinarian working at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at USP (1981) and completed his doctorate in sciences (cellular and tissue biology) at the University of São Paulo in 1989. He participated as researcher in Proantar, having developed several research projects at the King George Island in the Antarctic continent, mainly in ant artic fish biology. He did postdoctoral work at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (WHO-IARC/WHO) in Lyon, France studying the dynamics of cell-cell communication by gap junctions in skin cells. He is currently a full professor-MS6 at the University of São Paulo and was vice-director of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at USP. He published 91 articles in specialized journals and was supervisor of students in postgraduation and post-doc programs. His current research lines are the control and evolution of liver cirrhosis and the study of cell communication by gap junctions in animal models. In his curriculum the most frequent terms in the context of scientific, technological and artistic-cultural production, in this later aspect, directed to philosophy of science and scientific writing.
