Richardson Camarais a metropolitan governance researcher with the Centre for Sustainable Community Development (CSCD). His areas of research interest include metropolitan governance, community economic development, local and sustainable development in North and Latin America. His doctoral research focused on international development planning on a comparative study about the metropolitan governance in Canada, México and Brazil (2014-17). In the last two years, he has joined also as investigator on an IDRC funded project and supported by Simon Fraser University on Metropolitan Governance for Sustainability in Mexico (2014-15). His dissertation research was on the local economic development strategies of mediums and small municipalities in Brazil (2012-2014). Researcher Pos Doc in projects of Observatório das Metrópoles (office Natal, RN, Brazil) under coordination of Brazilian Research Network at the INCT Observatório das Metrópoles (INCT/IPPUR/UFRJ) a consolidated multidisciplinary networking of production of scientific knowledge, methodologies and tools for the research of the metropolitan question. He also taught in the Public Policy Management Program at Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil in topics in Political Science such as Metropolitan Governance, State and Society, Electoral and Partisan Systems and Public Policy Management Studio. He has contributed as referee, reviewing papers for publication in scientific events. He also worked awhile in São Paulo in Transparência Brasil (Transparency International) in projects on transparency in public management and anti-corruption development research.Richardson holds a Bachelor degree in Social Sciences from Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning from UFRN, with a focus on regional development planning and PhD in Social Sciences from Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN).
