Ana Malhado is an ecologist (UNESP/2000) with a postgraduate degree in Biodiversity Conservation in the Tropics from UNESCO-Fundación Donaña, and a doctoral degree in Ecosystem Ecology and Biogeography from the University of Oxford (2008). Currently, she is a professor and researcher at the Federal University of Alagoas, where she coordinates the Conservation in the 21st Century Laboratory (LACOS21) and contributes to the Postgraduate Program in Biological Diversity and Conservation in the Tropics. Her research interests encompass topics such as biodiversity conservation, conservation culturomics, governance of Conservation Units, and Cultural Ecosystem Services. Ana also plays an active role in reviewing scientific articles for scholarly journals and serves as an ad hoc consultant for funding agencies. Beyond her academic career, Ana is an enthusiastic advocate for scientific dissemination and environmental awareness. She leads projects such as "Mar a Vista" (Sea in Sight), "Criança com ciência" (Child with Science), and the development of high-quality materials for environmental awareness, aiming to bridge the gap between science and society.
