Birthplace: Brazil

Vânia R. Salvini received her Bachelor degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Federal University of São Carlos in 1992. She earned MSc degree on thermomechanical properties of refractories (1995) and PhD on processing, fluid dynamic and mechanical properties of ceramic filters (2001), both at same university. In the period from 2002 to 2013 she coordenated projects on SiC ceramic filters development for liquid metal filtration for Foseco Co. in Brazil. In 2003/2004 she developed graphite filters and amorphous silica filters for Foseco Co. in USA. From 2005 to 2007 she developed Pos-Doc on processing of foamed ceramics with FIRE (Federation for International Refractory Research and Education). In 2010/2014 she developed at Vesuvius Co. in Brazil the process of glazes and special castables. In period 2014-2016 developed Pos-Doc about the thermomechanical behavior of foamed ceramic materiais at USP (University of São Paulo). She was awarded by Brookfield Co., USA (2003), Alcoa Co., Brasil (1999), the Brazilian Ceramic Society, Brazil (1993), Eirich, Germany (2014), Italian Trade Agency ACIMAC, Italy (2015) and ALAFAR, Chile, Argentina e Colômbia (2014, 2016 e 2018). Since 2015 she is Assistant Professor at College of Technology FATEC Sertaozinho. Coordinates research programs for mining, refractory ceramics, energy and thermal measurement companies. The main areas of activity are energy saving and sustainable materials processing. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
