He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (1985), a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (1988) and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (1994). He is currently a professor at the State University of Campinas. He has experience in electrical engineering, with emphasis on industrial robotics, acting mainly in the following areas: robotics, control of nonlinear systems, neural networks, mobile robotics, control of robot trajectories and control of robotic joints. Since 1997 he has been a professor in the Department of Systems and Energy and since 2003 a Coordinator of the Robotic Modular Systems Laboratory at Unicamp's Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and also ad hoc advisor of institutions that promote research, and reviewer of specialized technical and scientific articles.
