Paul Krause is an Associate Professor (level 4) at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Mathematics Department. He holds a BSc in Applied Mathematics from USP (FAPESP, 1991-4, cum lauda) and a PhD from IMPA (CNPq, 1995-02). He was a postdoctoral fellow and visiting professor at U.C. Berkeley (NSF, 2003-4), Lawrence Berkeley Natl. Lab. (DOE, 2005-6), IAG/USP (FAPESP, 2007), U. Arizona (NSF, 2008-9) and CGD/NCAR (CNPq, 2015-6). He works on data assimilation and predictability enhancement of high-dimensional strongly nonlinear dynamical systems using determining variables, with a focus on atmospheric models.
