Professor at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP) and the Graduate Program in History of the same university. He holds a masters degree in History from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), a doctorate in History from the University of São Paulo (USP). He did a post-doctoral internship at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS, France), between 2013 and 2014, and at the Université Paris Nanterre (visiting professor) in 2019. Researcher of Brazilian history, he is the author of studies about the history and historiography of Minas Gerais. His research, converging on socio-cultural history, addresses issues of colonialism and territoriality of Brazil between the 17th and 19th centuries: slavery and mining economy; political-administrative powers and the Old Regime State; religious practices and institutions of Catholicism.
