Douglas de Britto

Hold B.Sc. in Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry of Sao Carlos - USP-IQSC (1995), M.Sc. in Chemistry (Physical Organic Chemistry) by IQSC-USP (1999) and Ph.D. in Chemistry (Physical Organic Chemistry) by IQSC-USP (2003). He made postdoctoral in EMBRAPA Instrumentation, working on the development of edible thrimethylchitosan thin films for apple coating. He is currently researcher at EMBRAPA Semiarido working with Nanotechnology: Development and Caracterization of Nanomaterial and Composites. Has experience in Chemistry with emphasis in Physical Organic Chemistry, acting on the following subjects: encapsulation and controlled release of vitamin from nanocompositesfunctional polymers, synthesis of polysaccharide derivatives, N,N,N-trimethyl chitosan, chitin and chitosan, cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose. Has studied the application of such biopolymers in postharvest, food, environmental and nanotechnology fields. Highlighting someone as edible coating, minimally processed fruits, fungicides films, thin films, sensors, chitosan nanoparicle, controlled release and decontamination of effluents. Has extensive experience in techniques as Thermomechanical Analysis (DMA, DSC, TG); Spectroscopy (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR solid-state FTIR, UV-visible, Atomic Absorption, EDX, XPS) and Chromatography (GPC, HPLC) and Microscopy (SEM, TEM, AFM).
