Graduated in Geography from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1994), completed an undergraduate exchange at Radford University, Virginia, USA, Master's degree in Geography from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1997), PhD in Geography from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2001) with internship at the University of Durham, United Kingdom (1998/2000) and post-doctorate in geomorphology at Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (2002). He is currently a Full Professor and researcher at the Federal University of Pernambuco, permanent member of the postgraduate programs in geography (PPGEO) and professional master's degree in geography teaching (PROFGEO), Leader of the Quaternary Study Group of the Brazilian Northeast (GEQUA) and the Quaternary Geomorphology Laboratory (LabGEQUA) from the UFPE. He served as Deputy Coordinator of the Geography Area at CAPES from 2018 to 2022. Vice-president of the Brazilian Association of Physical Geography since 2017. He has experience in the area of Geosciences (Physical Geography), with an emphasis on Geomorphology, working mainly on the following topics: Quaternary geomorphology, geomorphology of semi-arid environments, historical and structural geomorphology, application of morphometric indices in geomorphological analysis and geosystemic analysis.
