I completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Ecology at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, USA (2005); a Ph.D. in Zoology at São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho - Unesp - Rio Claro (1999); a Master's in Ecology at the University of Campinas (1992); and a Bachelor's in Biological Sciences at the University of São Paulo - USP - Ribeirão Preto (1986). Currently, I am a Full Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences (CCTS) at the Federal University of São Carlos, Sorocaba Campus, where I was the first coordinator of the Biological Sciences - Bachelor's Program (2006-2009) and Department Head (2021-2022). I served as Editor-in-Chief of Ararajuba (Brazilian Journal of Ornithology/Ornithology Research) and Associate Editor of the journal Biota Neotropica. I am currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Neotropical Biology and Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution, President of the Brazilian Ornithological Society (2024/2025), and Editor of the Bulletin of the Brazilian Ornithological Society. I have been an honorary member (Fellow) of the International Ornithologists' Union since 2022 (https://www.internationalornithology.org/iou-fellows). I am part of the Advisory Council of the Ipanema National Forest and the Study Commission (CE-037:000.003) of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), which discusses and establishes rules for the manufacture of flat glass in Brazil. I have experience in the field of Ecology, with an emphasis on the ecology and conservation of urban birds, the effects of anthropization, species loss, functional diversity of birds, and ecosystem functions. I supervise Master's and Ph.D. students in the Graduate Programs in Fauna Conservation (http://www.ppgcfau.ufscar.br/) and Ecology and Natural Resources (http://www.ppgern.ufscar.br/), both at the Federal University of São Carlos. I am the leader of the CNPq research group "Ecology, Systematics, and Conservation of Natural Resources" (dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/1981706075290225)..
