Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). Campus de Araraquara. Instituto de Química (IQ) (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal) Birthplace: Brazil
Graduated in Chemistry from the São Paulo State University (UNESP), with research funded by FAPESP during undergraduate research, Master's, and Ph.D., with an emphasis on Organic Chemistry and Natural Products. His research focused on the isolation and structural determination of organic compounds from plant sources. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Institute of Exact Sciences, Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), Manaus campus, and has coordinated the Multiuser and Multidisciplinary Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory (NMRLAB) at the UFAM Multiuser Analytical Center since its inception in 2016. In addition, he serves as Secretary of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Users Association (AUREMN) for the 2023-2026 term. He has served three terms as Coordinator of the Bachelor of Chemistry program and was a member of the Advisory Committee (CAA) of INEP for the 2021 ENADE (Bachelor and Licentiate in Chemistry). From 2017 to 2022, he acted as Tutor/Supervisor of ECOA - Consultoria e Análises, a Junior Enterprise composed of Chemistry students from ICE/UFAM. Since 2010, he has led the NEQUIMA research group (Center for Chemical Studies of Micromolecules from the Amazon), supervising undergraduate (IC and TCC) and graduate (MSc, Ph.D., Post-doc) students in research focused on the characterization of chemical constituents of Amazonian plant species, with an emphasis on the Myrtaceae family, primarily using NMR spectroscopy. He coordinates research projects funded by CNPq and FAPEAM and serves as a reviewer for several indexed journals, including Food Research International (A1), Food Chemistry (A1), Pharmaceuticals (A1), Talanta (A1), Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society (A2), Molecules (A2), Waste and Biomass Valorization (A2), Applied Sciences (A3), Metabolites (A3), Acta Amazonica (A3), Química Nova (A4), Applied Food Research (A4), and Fitoterapia (A4). In 2023, he was invited to serve as editor of an issue of the journal Frontiers in Natural Products, entitled "NMR Insights into Natural Product Chemistry", which was completed in 2024. His current research is focused on the chemical characterization of natural sources with potential food and/or phytotherapeutic applications, using NMR as the primary analytical tool. This work aims to develop nutraceuticals, foods, beverages, and phytopharmaceuticals, as well as to evaluate their antioxidant, cytotoxic, hypoglycemic, and antiviral properties. In 2024, he developed a postdoctoral under the supervision of Dr. Luiz Alberto Colnago at EMBRAPA-Instrumentation in São Carlos, working on the project titled "Development and Validation of a Green Method using TD-NMR to Monitor the TAG Content in Copaiba Oil-Resin," with a postdoctoral grant from FAPEAM.
