She holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University - USA (1995), a master's degree in Biological Sciences (Microbiology) from the University of São Paulo (1998) and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of São Paulo (2006), with a doctoral-sandwich internship in France (2004). She completed a postdoctoral internship at the University of Paris 8 (Capes scholarship) in 2015. She was a professor at the Department of Language Studies at the Fluminense Federal University, from 2006 to 2022. She is currently a professor at the Department of Linguistics at the University of São Paulo, where she teaches Linguistics and Semiotics. She is a member of the research staff of the Postgraduate Program in Language Studies at UFF and the Postgraduate Program in Semiotics and General Linguistics at USP, with research in the areas of Intersemiotic Translations and Hybrid Languages, addressing the dialogues and interfaces between languages in Literature, Cinema, Comics and Videogames. She coordinated the ANPOLL Semiotics WG in the 2014-2016 biennium and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Semiotic Studies, from 2012 to 2017.
