Dr. Sousa got his bachelor degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Tocantins (2000), following a residency in Small Animal Medicine (2003) at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the prestigious São Paulo State University at Jaboticabal. Also, he pursued further training and earned both the Master in Science (2004) and PhD (2007) degrees in Veterinary Medicine from São Paulo State University at Jaboticabal, doing his research thesis in Small Animal Cardiology. Dr. Sousa is currently affiliated with the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the Federal University of Parana at Curitiba, teaching Veterinary Cardiology Small Animal Medicine to undergraduate students and residents. In 2018, he was a visiting professor at the Department of Animal Medicine, Production and Health of the University of Padua (Italy). His areas of expertise include small animal internal medicine and veterinary cardiology, with particular interest in cardiac diseases, cardiac imaging, and biomarkers. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
