Graduated in Agronomy from the Federal University of Bahia, Master's and PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding from ESALQ/USP, post-doctorate in Molecular Cytogenetics (ESALQ/USP). She worked as a visiting researcher at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (2008-2009). She has been a researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa Mandioca e Fruticultura) since 2002, where she supervises the Genetic Resources and Variety Development Center (Nugene).
