Dr. Faria-Neto received his M.D. degree at Federal University of Paraná (1994). His training in Internal Medicine (Residence) was performed at Hospital das Clínicas / University of São Paulo - USP (1995) followed by 2 years serving as Clinical Fellow in Cardiology at the Heart Institute, Sao Paulo (1996/97). Also at the University of Sao Paulo Dr. Faria-Neto received his Ph.D. degree in Cardiology (1998-2002). He served as a Post-Doc Fellow at the Atherosclerosis Research Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles (2002-04). He is currently Professor in Medicine at the Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR), supervising Master and Ph.D. students. The main focus of his research is atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, cardiovascular risk factors, dyslipidemia and myocardial ischemia. He served as Scientific Director of SBC / PR in 2010-11 and he is currently President of the Department of Atherosclerosis of Brazilian Society of Cardiology (2014-15). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
