PhD in Ecology from Imperial College, University of London (1996). Degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (1989). Post-doctorate from Macquarie University - Australia (1998), Post-doctorate from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro UFRJ (1999), Post-doctorate from the State University of Campinas UNICAMP (2000), Visiting Professor at the University of California Davis, USA (2019), Visiting Professor at the Centre for Ecology and Conservation Sciences of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris, France (2024). Coordinator of the Restoration Ecology Laboratory, http://lerufrn.wix.com/restauracao since 2001. Full Professor at the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos, (UNISINOS) RS (2018). Currently Associate Professor lV at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, RN, and a permanent member of the Postgraduate Programme in Ecology (CAPES level 7). I have been working since 1992 to advance scientific knowledge in the field of Ecology and to generate new technologies applicable to the restoration of degraded environments in a variety of tropical and subtropical ecosystems, with current emphasis on the Caatinga. I have experience in coordinating large research projects, in designing and analysing ecological experiments and in comparative work focusing on the areas of Restoration Ecology, Plant Ecology and Biodiversity.
