Catherine Gallois is an architect and urban planner. She received her Bachelor of Architecture from FAU-USP in 2001, her Master of Urban and Regional Planning from IPPUR-UFRJ in 2004, and her Ph.D. in Architecture and Urbanism from PPGAU-UFF in 2019. She has participated in several advanced training courses, including stone conservation (ICCROM, 2009; UFMG/IPHAN, 2014), risk management of museum heritage in the context of climate change (ICOMOS Argentina, 2020), and the prevention and mitigation of fire risks in cultural heritage (ICCROM, 2021). She has taught courses in architecture and urbanism at UNESA and UFRJ. She is a member of research groups and has several publications in the field of preservation. Her thesis, Matter, Value, and Authenticity in the Conservation-Restoration of Properties Listed by IPHAN in Rio de Janeiro, deals with the interfaces between the conservation management of listed buildings and theoretical and epistemological approaches to cultural heritage. She worked for 19 years at IPHAN-RJ in activities related to the conservation management of cultural heritage in Rio de Janeiro and the IPHAN master's program. She joined the Museum of Astronomy and Related Sciences (MAST/MCTI) as a civil servant in July 2025. His main areas of interest are stone conservation, conservation science, risk management, and conservation planning and management. She is a member of the Scientific Editorial Committee of the National Association for Research in Heritage Technology and Science (ANTECIPA). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
