Alexandre Garcia holds a BSc in Veterinary Medicine (1996), achieved his Masters (2000) and PhD degrees (2004) in Animal Reproduction from the University of São Paulo. Since 2005, he has been working as a Researcher at the Embrapa-Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, Embrapa Pecuária Sudeste unit, Brazil. He currently also works as a permanent professor at the Animal Science Graduate Program at Federal University of Pará (UFPA/Embrapa/UFRA) and the Animal Reproduction Graduate Program of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the University of São Paulo (FMVZ/USP). For almost 25 years, he has pursued research in thermal biology of livestock, especially beef cattle, sheep and water buffalo. His interests lie in the effects of the thermal environment on different production systems, focusing on its consequences on reproductive efficiency, as well as strategies to mitigate the impact of heat stress on animals.
