Graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Sao Paulo (1991), graduated in Biology Teaching at the University of Sao Paulo (1991) and PhD in Cell and Tissue Biology at the University of Sao Paulo (1997). She was a posdoc at New York University (2001); She is currently Full Professor at the Dept of Cell and Developmental Biology, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Sao Paulo. She has experience in Cell and Tissue Biology, acting on the mechanisms that control growth and development in the gastrointestinal mucosa, using models to manipulate feeding during childhood, especially breastfeeding interruption. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and also is involved in outreach activities. She is has a collaboration as researcher at the Centro Tecnológico dos Fuzileiros Navais (CeTecCFN). Currently, she acts as the Dean at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at USP, coordinates the Network of Animal Facilities at USP, is a member of committees at USP, is counselor for board of the Brazilian Society for Cell Biology, and represents Brazil at the International Committee of the American Society for Cell Biology.
