Ph.D. in Oceanography, Texas A&M University (TAMU), USA, 2008. Gilvan Yogui is currently an associate professor in the Department of Oceanography at Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil. His primary areas of expertise are chemical oceanography and environmental chemistry. He has worked in pollution monitoring programs as well as biogeochemical studies of organic compounds (e.g., petroleum hydrocarbons, persistent organic pollutants, stable isotopes and lignin oxidation products). Dr. Yogui?s research interests include: (1) development of analytical techniques for the analysis of organic compounds; (2) participation in intercomparison programs; (3) transport, impact and fate of trace organic contaminants in the environment; and (4) biogeochemistry of organic matter in aquatic ecosystems.
