Hugo Nascimento has a degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (1994), a master's degree in Computer Science from the State University of Campinas (1997) and a PhD in Science from the University of Sydney (2004). Full Professor at the Federal University of Goiás, Hugo develops research in several areas of Computing, with broad interdisciplinary work, involving themes such as Information Visualization, Combinatorial Optimization, Human-Computer Interaction, Data Science, Software Engineering and Technological Art. Some of the recent research projects being carried out under his supervision involve: investigations into machine learning applied to the prediction of academic dropout, the diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases and pattern recognition in low-cost EEG devices; the development of recommendation systems using temporal contexts; the application of information visualization and interactive optimization techniques for the construction of educational timetables; and a study on accessibility and performativity in virtual museums.
