Sonia Ray is musicist, researcher, professor and writer. She holds a doctoral degree in Double Bass Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iowa (USA, 1998) Ray received a post-doctoral fellowship from Brazilian Government to visit The University of North Texas (USA, 2008). She is the double bass professor of the Federal University of Goiás, where she also teaches, contemporary chamber music, methodology of research in music. Sonia was a guest performer at the International Society of Bassists since 1993. She served as guest artist and researcher in several events all over Brazil and USA, as well as events in Austria, Italy, England, Colombia and Poland. Her intense activities as researcher is evident in her numerous articles published in procedures of both national and international events, as well as her books on music performance. The passion for photography and for the African Culture was always part of her private studies, but more recently became also part of her professional interests. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
